PDF Booklet Creator is an open-source software application designed to help you create your own professional-looking books out of any PDF file. The aim of this tool is to organize the pages in the PDF file in a way that lets you print, fold, and bind the resulting document in a way that resembles the booklets in standard printed books.
Traditionally-printed books come in booklets. Pages are printed on both sides of large sheets of paper, which when properly folded and cut resemble a proper booklet. The principle here is the same, though the number of pages that can be printed using this program is limited to four per sheet. PDF Booklet Creator will not change the layout of the original document, so do not expect this program to add anything to the existing page layout (page numbers, headings, etc.). It will simply pair the original pages and rearrange them in the order required to create a readable booklet.
The program offers you two different modes – booklet and calendar. The former pairs the pages in a landscape layout, while the latter puts one page on top of the next one, so that they can be bound and read as calendars usually are.
The interface provided is simple enough to allow any user to make use of the program. In fact, is so simple that lacks what I consider a very important feature – the possibility of define the number of pages that will conform the booklet. Professional printed books are usually made up of a number of 64-page booklets, which are easily folded, sewn, and bound. PDF Booklet Creator produces a single booklet, so if your original PDF contains a large number of pages it is advisable to split it into more manageable, smaller files beforehand.
